Styes in the eye can occur inside or outside the eyelid and often are like a little pimple. It can be very painful and irritating. According to All About Vision, the stye is an infection in an oil gland at the edge of the eyelid.
Styes are cause by bacteria that is found in the nose, which is why it is important to wash our hands after blowing or touching the nose. If you forget and then rub the eye it is more likely to develop a stye.
It is very important to know that the styes are contagious. So, if you have a stye, you should be very careful not to share pillowcases or washcloths. Ladies, it is going to hurt but you must toss all eye make up! The existing eye makeup is infected with the stye causing bacteria and using it after the stye has healed will cause another stye.
According to Healthline, there are many ways to treat styes such as: adamp, warm washcloth over the eye for 5 or 10 minutes. You should continue this treatment 3 or 4 times until the stye heals. The alternative method to this treatment is to sit back and relax with a teabag over the eyelid. Bustle says that this treatment works because tea is an antioxidant with serious anti-bacterial properties. Because of its cause that is bacterial the tea is effective in fighting the infection.
Also, Bustle recommends treating the stye with a mixture of castor oil and turmeric. When you will apply it directly to the stye it can speed up the recovery.
Healthline says that you should clean the eyelid. You should tear free baby shampoo with warm water. Then, use a cotton swab or a clean washcloth to wipe the eyelid with the mixture.
